June is here.
And with it comes a reality we cannot ignore.
Five months of the year have already passed.
Five months.
It seems like little.
It seems like a lot.
It depends on the day you think about it.
Because some mornings we feel January was yesterday.
And on others it seems to have happened in another life.
Perhaps you looked in the mirror this morning, too.
As you do every day.
A quick glance.
Enough to start the day.
But there is an interesting question.
When you saw yourself today…
Did you only see your reflection?
Or did you see the person you have built over these last five months?
The one who met some goals.
The one who left others unfinished.
The one who solved problems that were never part of her plans.
The one who learned things nobody taught her.
The one who kept going even when things did not turn out as expected.
Because that is the curious thing about time.
While we are busy living, we do not notice everything that is changing.
Until one day we look up.
We look at the calendar.
And discover it is already June.
Then comes the reminder.
Not the one about goals.
Not the one about productivity.
Not the one about everything still missing.
The other one.
The important one.
That you still have time.
Time to begin.
Time to pick things up again.
Time to change your mind.
Time to be brave.
Time to feel excited about something again.
Because five months have passed.
But there are still seven ahead.
And that means this year's story has not yet been written.
The next time you look in the mirror, remember something.
You are not seeing the same person who began January.
And you are not seeing the person you will be in December, either.
You are still under construction.
You still have time.
And perhaps that is the reminder many of us needed to read today.
